best mother's day ever

there is nothing that could have made me happier
than to get a last minute call, as i drove home from
santa cruz, from my best friend asking if i would mind
babysitting her granddaughter (my goddaughter)
with her the night before mother's day
the three of us sharing my bed, a jumble of laughter, warmth
and peace... there is nothing more sweet than waking up
in the middle of the night and feeling
my goddaughter's tiny arm resting
across my breasts, her hand clutching my arm...
this is my true family, this is love at its best..
then the next morning, my friend and i watching
this little miracle sleep, taking pictures, whispering
to one another, trying not to wake her, but then
my friend saying something so funny, we are laughing
uncontrollably, writhing on the bed in tears, our
stomachs aching... best mother's day present ever.

Children make us want to protect all that is sacred. Through them, we find a wellspring of love that stretches our hearts to hold more then we ever thought we could.

Yes, it is a miraculous photo...
I hadn't realized that you had taken it yourself!
It's definitely worth a second and third look, more beautiful each time.
OK, ss, time to stop by for another sparkling peek at your stream of life...waiting patiently...
Ma always taught me to be proper about things, so, here I am being proper ....
It's not easy moving to a new blog, but, that's what I'm doing.
The 'Grabbing the Bull' blog is going to be a political thing until November, and then I'm shutting it down.
It's hard to do because i have to move all the addresses to the new blog one at a time, so, here's the deal.
If you don't agree with the political stand I'm making and don't want your name attached to it, c'mon by and tell me and I'll give it priority treatment.
(if you don't mind being there, or even want to contribute, tell me that, too, and I'll leave it for the duration.
In any case, the new address is at the top of the sidebar.
Boneman--anyone who puts Rachel Maddow on their blog has got MY vote! Good going!
firebird, i apologize for the long lapses in posts... hard to process all that's happening so fast... plus, crazy as this sounds, i'm heading off to europe for a three week vacation this saturday!!! much to do. i promise, if i come back happy and healthy as i hope to, i will become much more prolific in my posts. big, big hugs for you my friend, snowsparkle
Return safe--happy--and try to fit in some relaxation--ha! no-one ever does on these European trips...too much to do, too many opportunities...
oh, drat.
Just when I thought I was growing up, I go and lose my temper and clean the slate of every blog I had.
Started a new one, thoug.
(i missed them right off) but just the one.
well, sort'a)
Anyway, the gator is friendly (Larry is really a vegetarian) and, of course, so are the folks hanging around there.
A man is at work one day when he notices that his co-worker is wearing
an ear ring. This man knows his co-worker to be a normally conservative
fellow, and is curious about his sudden change in "fashion sense."
The man walks up to him and says, "I didn't know you were into
earrings."
"Don't make such a big deal, it's only an earring," he replies
sheepishly.
His friend falls silent for a few minutes, but then his curiosity prods
him to say, "So, how long have you been wearing one?"
"Ever since my wife found it in my truck."
