seen

the winter sun, low in the sky
baking a coral glaze onto bare branches
of tan birch trees lined up waiting for
this moment of benediction
_____________

young sepia skinned girls gathering
under cypress trees on the cliffs
above the ocean, waves crashing
against the earth, their soft voices
speaking in their mother tongue,
headdresses woven with stones,
shells and urchin quills rest like
crowns on their glossy black hair,
the shells dangle and clatter in the wind
their fathers walk by with their flutes
and stringed instruments, playing a
song that weaves itself between the
sound of their voices and the sound
of the waves...
this was my beautiful dream
last night

beautiful girlfriend goodbye with
the glow of the tiny porch light mightily

If this is what your dreams are like, I'm mightily envious!
My dreams are of being late to work, losing my car in the parking lot...etc.

The waking dream of your son and his girlfriend--that I can relate to.
Beautifully written...beautiful images--thanks for sharing them!

what a sparkle! A Snowsparkle! I reckon.
You came back with a bang! Liked the Good Mom/Bad Mom pair.
I guess the best writings are the real writings.

Hi Firebird!
well, just the middle part was my dream, the other two parts were real... this dream was an unusual surprise... believe me, I've had my share of lost cars and running hard and getting nowhere.... so it seemed like a huge gift -- and somehow a mystical prophecy (two words I have never used together, now writing them i understand why... i swear i haven't been kidnapped by a cult). i think the dream was talking to me about the value of being deeply connected to the earth, to the ocean, to all mothers on this planet.
i am so grateful for our connection.
big warm hugs,

Hi Boneman,
Not much snow in these parts lately, but i'm still aiming to sparkle as often as i can. thanks for being here. you make me feel like the world is a good place to be. I feel strange like i'm just learning to swim again blogging here... and i feel guilty not being able to read all the posts from you and others (i'm such a slow reader) but whatever I can do, i love doing. recently someone asked me pointedly what I wanted.... i didn't even take a moment to think and the word "time" flew out of my mouth. my financial planner tells me i can't retire for another 10 years, so til then, the luxury of time seems out of reach. thank you for reading and for encouraging me with your kindness and humor. hope you are well. big warm hugs,
snowsparkle

well I haven't been by to read in a while, but now I'm all caught up and it's been a delight, as usual.

Well, here's some time for you...and a 'joke'
hope it isn't too soon for this kind of humor....

Dear Tech Support,
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in overall system performance, particularly in the flower and jewelry applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 uninstalled many other valuable programs, such as
· Romance 9.5
· Personal Attention 6.5,

and then installed undesirable programs such as
· NBA 5.0,
· NFL 3.0
· Golf Clubs 4.1.

Conversation 8.0 no longer runs, and Housecleaning 2.6 simply crashes the system.

· Please note that I have tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, but to no avail.

What can I do?
Signed,
Desperate

DEAR DESPERATE,

First, keep in mind,
· Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while
· Husband 1.0 is an operating system.

Please enter command: ithoughtyoulovedme.html and try to download Tears 6.2 and do not forget to install the Guilt 3.0 update.
· If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewelry 2.0 and Flowers 3.5.

However, remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0 or Beer 6.1.
· Please note that Beer 6. 1 is a very bad program that will download the Farting and Snoring Loudly Beta.

Whatever you do, DO NOT under any circumstances install Mother-In-Law 1.0 (it runs a virus in the background that will eventually seize control of all your system resources.)

In addition, please do not attempt to reinstall the Boyfriend 5.0 program These are unsupported applications and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. We recommend
· Cooking 3.0 and
· Hot Lingerie 7.7.

Good Luck Babe!

shara sweetie! thank you for being here and catching up. thinking about you and your devotion to your girls and your art is something that always makes me happy. i am working my way through things and touching down here when i am not working with the financial planner, mortgage broker, therapist and divorce mediator. this is an amazing education, but also a big catharsis... i want to come out of it as a whole new something (or someone) and the way you live your life inspires me. thanks for being here.
big big hugs, snowsparkle kl

boneman! i am rolling on the floor laughing! omg! you gave me a much needed laugh! this whole dating thing is all at once humbling, enlightening and hilarious. as i pretty much never dated in high school and barely dated before marrying my spouse, i am learning a lot of thing most women have figured out by age 21. lucky for me that what is bad for life is good for writing. i can't tell you how much i appreciate your humor, your kindness and your thoughtfulness. what a gift you are in this moment. big big hugs, snowsparkle

We've all been hearing about the tough times around the country, lately, and how some folks are getting laid off through no fault of their own.
Then, there's Bill.
Bill worked in a pickle factory.
He had been employed there for a number of years when he came home one day to confess to his wife that he had a terrible compulsion;

He had an urge to stick his penis into the pickle slicer.
His wife suggested that he should see a sex therapist to talk about it, but Bill said he would be too embarrassed. He vowed to overcome the compulsion
on his own.

One day a few weeks later, Bill came home and his wife could see at once that something was seriously wrong.

'What's wrong, Bill?' she asked.

'Do you remember that I told you how I had this tremendous urge to put my penis into the pickle slicer?'

'Oh, Bill, you didn't' she exclaimed.

'Yes, I did.' he replied.

'My God, Bill, what happened?'

'I got fired.'

'No, Bill. I mean, what happened with the pickle slicer?'

'Oh...she got fired too.'

Thanks for stopping by my place. You must have read, "Peace like a River", or had similar thoughts when you chose to name your blog. Which river are you close to? We have three wild rivers near us, the Rogue, the Elk and the Sixes, all less than half hour away. These rivers do not have damns, reaching the ocean with verve, vigor and laziness too. The fish make the spawning trek of their species the way it did millions of years ago. Many parts of the rivers are protected wildlands, thanks to Oregon's strong stand on environmental preservation. Peace and continuity of purpose to you too.

It's been a while since I checked in and I just noticed that I lost your link while cleaning up my sidebar a while ago, but now that I've found and linked to you again, I hope to see you again.

I hope you are continuing to dream your way to where you want to be.

hi lakeviewer,
i'm touched by your kind words of appreciation and encouragement. there is no major river near where i live, maybe that's part of my reason to become one. i will have to look into the widget thingy... i'm hoping to have more time for fun and creativity here after the divorce is final... maybe in May.... thanks again for being here and for your wonderful writing as well.
big hugs,
